pathetic

I wish tomorrow could be the New Year.  I can't remember ever having a worse start to any year in my life.  GGRRRRRRR.  Not to mention our running total is pathetic.  I was only able to cover 38 miles this month.  This WILL be the last month, and by the end of next month I will be caught up on all the miles I missed.  The goal for March is 74 miles.  Also, by April 1 I would like to be down to 210. (no Aprils Fools)

Outside Stroll

SO at some point, I needed to take this little run outside. I have never really walked outside for the miles and what not. I have been working my way to this point for a while. Two weeks ago I googled how far it was to 238 Roosevelt. .8 miles. 238 Roosevelt is where I went almost every day from the second grade until high school. The side walk on the way there used to have a whole square out of it which caused a great time trying to bunny hop it. I figured a route there that would pick up the extra .4 miles to get my 2 miles in.
It snowed from window all day and I know it would be cold. I noticed that there would be ice on the sidewalk, but today was the day. I loved being outside. Did I fall? YES! Did it hurt? My feelings. Did anyone see? TBD. Did I push the wrong way to cross the street in the cross walk? YEP Did I illegally cross the busiest road in the POC? Twice...while thinking rebel til I die. Did I walk down the middle of the road? Of course (really who wants to hit a man the size of a small calf) Will I do it again? Every chance I get!

The Turn

So I am a single Dad. Not that my kids do not have a mother that they see regularly, I am just single. (to all the ladies) I have my kids most nights. This week it has been tough to get those miles in. With V day and a father in the hospital. So I had a realization that I have a treadmill at work, that I can use during my lunch hour. This is big news for me. I can still keep up. My office looks over the city I was raised in. The view from the treadmill is a park that I have grown to love for a lot of reasons. So today the mile was not my sweetest but great memories came out of it. Plus it is always weird to shower at work.

so close!!!!

I am so close to my first goal.  When I made my first post I weighed in at 237 which is about 47 lbs more than I would like to be.  My first post was January 11 and my goal was to be down to 220 by March 1.  Today I weighed in at 223.5.  Once I reach this goal I can work on being down to 205 by May 1st and then doing my first 5k of the year.  After March is over I will need to start swimming again so I will be able to do a couple Sprint Triathlons later this summer.

too late for running

Days like today I just wish I could have a normal schedule like a normal person.  Maybe when I am grown up I will be normal.  Although I can't complain because mixed in with these days that have me gone from the house for 16 hours, there are days where I am gone for only a couple.  The only thing that keeps me somewhat pacified with the schedule is that if I ever do get married the flexibility would be awesome.

With that being said, and in spite of sore shins, tonight's run was once again therapeutic.

The Sweetest Mile

Due to an great conversation with a beautiful woman, I was late getting to the gym. My excuse of being late could be confused with the fact I thought the gym closed at 11. So when I got there I found the guy who has a mow hawk. He signed me up for the gym so I knew he had the answer.
I asked “hey man what time does the gym close.” He rebutted “ten.” It was in a tone that stated you fat S.O.B. I told you that when you paid me money.
So I decided with the little time that I had I would hit the bike, then hit my chest workout. I went .87 on the bike and then hit a bench. After the bench I hit the fly’s. While on the fly machine in the midst of the country I could here that face of D rack and the promise I made to help with this.
I had 20 minutes and mow hawk guy and the guy who I do not think works there, but hangs out with mow hawk guy were what seemed to be in a hurry. So I decided to hit it hard jogging/slash borderline running, side note I usually walk my miles. Today was different I had Colder Weather from the Zac Brown Band playing on repeat and the aches of my calves. Long story in the midst of the running/slogging, I realized the adrenaline that real runner might feel. So today I post 1 mile, and I am more proud of my mile then the 8 I walked last week. D Rack you rock! Running we can be acquaintances now!!

I love running?????

This may be true...  I am sure everyone has had those days where they dislike (hate) absolutely everything about their life, and today was no exception for me.  But,  a couple of miles into my run I think there may have been a slightly upturned corner of the line across my face that could have been construed as not frowning.  Through all the aches, pains, injuries, and sweat running in my eyes; running is now giving me an insane sense of accomplishment and enjoyment.

Evil won.....again.  There happens to be a place on my way to the gym that has an all you can eat Fish fry on Friday's.  The end.

Century

It seems as though we have now, with my two miles from yesterday passed the century mark. What does that mean if we were running a relay and had a month to do so we be to Idaho Falls and back to Chubbuck. For those unfamiliar with the South East Idaho region, Idaho Falls is a major town and Chubbuck is the suburb of the greatest town known to man which is Pocatello. Which means land where God will dwell, in Shoshone. There have been major highlights to this weight loss and also a desire to be in shape. A desire to feel the burn in the calve. The desire to ponder entering in a 5k. It also has helped me realize that I can do more. So we may not be on pace and will pick it up, but it has been a great time none the less.

good start

Even though we fell short of the 167 mile/month we are off to a great start.  We just need to average 175 for the remaining 11 months and we will be golden.  Plus, I hadn't logged any miles until the 11th, and we have Nate in our back pocket for an upcoming explosion of miles.  Between Robert and I we have already lost the weight equivalent of a 3 year old child. :o)

Clothes were flying everywhere.......

and again I exaggerate, but nonetheless one of my shirts was flying.  As in it is no longer in the lineup because it is toooo big.  :)  When I bought the shirt it was borderline whether or not it would fit, but now after losing a little weight it looks ridiculously big on me.  I normally wouldn't purchase anything that would be useless right away, but it was only $4, and I knew it was be a great psychological boost to "un-grow" it.
